Holistic Counselling FAQs
-
Unlike traditional talk therapy, holistic counselling works with the whole person — mind, body, emotions, relationships and spiritual meaning.
Rather than focusing only on thoughts or behaviour, we explore the deeper patterns shaping your experiences. This might include nervous system responses, attachment patterns, family dynamics, beliefs about yourself, and the ways you learned to adapt in earlier environments.
We do not need to endlessly analyse the past to make change. Instead, we work with what is present in your life now and use that as a doorway into deeper transformation.
-
People are often curious about what a session looks like.
The truth is that every session is different because it is guided by what is most alive for you in that moment.
Some sessions are reflective and exploratory, helping you understand emotional patterns or beliefs that may be shaping your experiences.
Other sessions are more practical. We might workshop a real-life challenge, navigate a difficult conversation, or explore how to respond differently to a familiar trigger.
Depending on what feels supportive for you, sessions may also include tools such as parts work, nervous system regulation practices, creative therapy, visualisation, or symbolic and spiritual resources.
-
We work with what is most present for you.
While we always hold awareness of your long-term goals, sessions naturally adapt to what is unfolding in your life at the time.
For example, you may begin working on self-worth but a relationship challenge or emotional trigger arises that week. In those moments we follow the thread that is most relevant.
Over time, these moments often reveal deeper patterns underneath the surface experiences.
-
Not at all.
While spirituality can be welcomed into this space, it is never required.
Some clients resonate deeply with the spiritual aspects of the work and enjoy including ritual, symbolism or connection with nature as part of the process.
Others simply come for grounded therapeutic support, emotional processing and nervous system regulation.
This work adapts to your worldview rather than asking you to adopt a particular belief system.
-
There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
The frequency of sessions depends on the pace you want to work at, the level of support you feel you need, and your personal goals.
Some clients attend weekly during periods of deeper change. Others prefer fortnightly or monthly sessions for steady reflection and integration.
Some simply book sessions when they feel the call.
You are always in control of your process.
-
Yes.
Online sessions are available for clients across Australia and internationally.
Many people find online counselling just as effective as in-person sessions and appreciate being able to access support from the comfort of their own home.
If we use creative therapy tools during online sessions, you may simply gather basic materials such as paper, crayons, clay or a notebook beforehand.

The counselling space has been intentionally created to feel calm, grounded and welcoming.
It includes natural elements, soft lighting and a small altar that reflects the connection between psychological and spiritual aspects of the work.
The space is designed to support reflection, emotional safety and a sense of presence.

The consultation is a relaxed 20-minute conversation where we can get to know each other.
You can share a little about what has been happening in your life, ask questions about the work, and get a sense of whether this approach feels aligned for you.
If I believe I can support you, we can discuss the next steps.
If not, I will always do my best to guide you toward someone who may be a better fit.
-
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling.
Many people come to this work because they feel ready for growth, clarity or deeper self-understanding.
Sometimes clients feel stuck in subtle patterns they cannot quite explain. Others are navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, or a sense that something within them is ready to shift.
This work is just as much about expansion and self-discovery as it is about healing past experiences.

Yes.
Rachel has spent several years working closely with neurodivergent individuals and people living with psychosocial disabilities.
She is also dyslexic and ADHD herself, which gives her both lived and professional understanding of how different brains process the world.
Sessions can be adapted to support sensory needs and different ways of thinking. This may include the use of fidget tools, creative materials, movement, yoga mats, drawing or working with clay or play dough.
The intention is to create an environment where you feel comfortable to show up as you are.

If you feel curious, drawn or even slightly intrigued by this work, that is often a good starting point.
